]]>On move-in day, when I walked into the leasing office, the man there gave me a dog treat – and that’s when I knew these people love dogs! My new home has lots of big windows for me to watch the birds, squirrels, and other wildlife in the woods and along the creek that runs through the property.
I can go for walks with my mom in my giant back yard along three miles of sidewalks and wooded paths. Almost 40% of this place is green space, and when I say, “green space,” I mean actual grass – not that artificial turf stuff. When it comes time to “do my duty,” clean-up is easy for her with all the convenient dog waste stations strategically located around the property.
Speaking of walks…there is a pet-friendly shopping area called The Corners of Brookfield right across the street from Poplar Creek Town Center! Once in a while my mom takes me there, or we get in the car for a short ride to Pet Supplies Plus, Bentley’s Pet Stuff, or Pet Smart. And sometimes my mom takes me to the K9 Resort less than a mile from my new home.
Shopping is fun, but my absolute favorite day of the year is the annual Doggy Swim Day, which is the day before the huge resort-style pool closes for the season. All the dogs in the whole property join me for a fabulous play date in the pool. I’m not sure if it’s my birthday, or what, but life does not get any better than that!
When I get into a little mischief and need a bath, even bathing is better at Poplar Creek Town Center! They have a spa just for pampering pets! I get shampooed by my mom in the large tub, then she sets me on what must be a massage table and dries my fur and gives me a mani/pedi. You can’t make this stuff up!
As you can see, I love my new home at Poplar Creek Town Center! Stop by to take a look around sometime soon.
Wish you were here!

]]>Poplar Creek has a wide variety of “common” spaces for our residents to read, chat, work, or (let’s admit it, friends) daydream! For starters, our CrossTown Clubhouse has cozy fireplaces to enjoy while working at a table or curled up on a sofa or lounge chair. The Bistro has a fabulous coffee bar to keep you fueled, and the Poolside Lounge (known colloquially as “PSL”) has a billiards table for break time between tasks, and gorgeous views of the resort-style pool to enjoy while taking calls. If you need space for meeting with a group of colleagues, the Meeting/Game Room is the perfect location. And you could even utilize the adjacent Golf Simulator for some friendly team competition during a meeting break!
If you’re relaxing while waiting for a ride share or food delivery, you can’t beat our lobbies adjacent to each building’s entrance vestibule, or the Grand Lobby at the Clubhouse entrance. Each building has an elevator lobby with comfortable seating on every floor, which is the perfect place to settle for a quick text.
Our EastTown building features a generous Atrium Lobby with coffee bar, adjacent to the Atrium Clubroom, which is available for your private gathering, complete with caterer’s kitchen. These spaces feature a variety of tables and seating options. On the second floor of the Atrium there is a comfortable seating area, which would be the perfect place for you and your laptop to get down to work. Beautiful artwork and western exposure make even a cold winter day feel cozy!
For residents focused on Vitamin D loading, we have incredible outdoor spaces to enjoy. The CrossTown Clubhouse has a Plaza on the north side of the building outside the Fitness Center, where tables and chairs await. Other great outdoor work-from-home settings are located around our TWO swimming pools (one at Crosstown and one at EastTown). They include the CrossTown trellis area with loveseats, chairs and tables, and the EastTown sun deck and second floor balconies with love seats, just off the Fitness Center.
No matter your preference or purpose, Poplar Creek Town Center has options to fulfill every resident wish list for beautiful, functional spaces to call home beyond the square footage of your apartment. How about we work together!

]]>The post Fall Apartment Decor on a Budget appeared first on Wimmer Communities Blog.
]]>
There’s something about fall that makes your apartment feel even more like home. The air gets crisper, the days a little shorter, and suddenly you want to carve a pumpkin, go apple picking, and jump in a pile of leaves. The good news? You can bring all of that seasonal charm right into the comfort of your own home.
Here are six easy, affordable ways to make your apartment feel cozy and inviting this fall…
1. Shop Your Own Home First
Before you buy anything new, take a walk through your apartment. You might already have pieces that feel perfectly autumnal, a soft throw blanket tucked in a closet, a wooden tray that works beautifully under some candles and pumpkin decor, or a serving bowl that works perfectly for pinecones or mini pumpkins. Moving items around can give your space a fresh look for free.
2. Bring the Outdoors In
Nature offers some of the best (and most budget-friendly) fall decor. On your next walk, keep an eye out for colorful leaves, pinecones, or even small branches. Arrange them in a vase, scatter them across your dining table, or fill a bowl for an easy seasonal touch.
3. Create Little Moments Around Your Apartment
You don’t need to decorate every inch of your space, just focus on a few spots that will make the biggest impact. Try:
-
A cozy reading nook with a blanket and lamp
-
A kitchen counter display with mini pumpkins and a candle
-
An entryway table with a seasonal wreath, garland, or small arrangement
4. Change the Lighting
Lighting makes a huge difference in how your space feels. Swap bright white bulbs for warmer tones, add a small table lamp, hang string lights, or use flameless candles for a soft glow.
5. Be a Smart Shopper
If you want a few new pieces, check thrift stores, dollar stores, or seasonal aisles at your favorite discount shops. Focus on one or two items that stand out, like a cozy textured throw or a statement candle, that can pull the whole room together.
6. Make It a Full-Sensory Experience
Fall isn’t just about how things look, it’s about how they feel and smell, too. Use a cinnamon or pumpkin-spice room spray, play your favorite autumn playlist, or simmer apple cider on the stove to make your apartment feel warm and welcoming in every sense.
Fall decorating doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. With just a few thoughtful touches, you can make your apartment a cozy, inviting retreat all season long.

In addition, the Marriott Center at Poplar Creek Town Center, Wimmer Communities’ exciting hospitality and mixed-use development in The Town of Brookfield, has been nominated for The Daily Reporter’s 26th Annual Top Projects Award. ]]>The post 3 Reasons Why Renting an Apartment with a Garage is so Important appeared first on Wimmer Communities Blog.
]]>There are many benefits to having an apartment with a garage. Luckily, we have several properties within the Wimmer Communities family that have garages available.
Some of our properties have stand-alone garages with extra storage space, like Whitnall Glen in Hales Corners. Some people prefer a garage underneath their apartment, so they don’t have to go outside at all to get to their vehicle. Alpine Court in West Allis is one location that boasts an underground garage. If you’d like a ground-level, attached garage, you are sure to love Falcon Glen in Greenfield.
Here are a few reasons why you should consider renting an apartment with a garage:
1. Protection from Weather
Your vehicle will be protected from weather events all year long if it’s parked in a garage. The days of going outside to clean the snow off your car after a storm are over. You won’t have to scrape ice off the windshield, either, or wait for a hot car to cool down in the middle of summer.
2. Convenient Parking
When you have a garage conveniently located in your apartment building, you will always know where you parked your car. It’s like having a reserved parking space with a building around it. What’s more, you won’t have to walk blocks and blocks to get to your car – it’ll always be right by where you eat and sleep.
3. Storage
One big benefit to having a garage is the extra storage space. There are a few things that fit better in a garage than in any other room in your home. This includes bicycles, exercise equipment, and much more. Putting these objects in a garage provides easy access, especially for items that you rarely if ever need to use inside your apartment.
Whether you are looking for an apartment with a garage or one that’s conveniently located within a short drive of downtown Milwaukee, Wimmer Communities has options available that will meet all your needs. Contact us so we can get to know you and help you find the best apartment for your lifestyle.

]]>The post Favorite Winter Staycation Ideas Near Milwaukee: Wimmer Staff Picks appeared first on Wimmer Communities Blog.
]]>The British poet, Edith Sitwell, wrote, “Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is time for home.”
We couldn’t agree more…and thus, the winter staycation was born!
We asked Wimmer Team Members in our New Berlin communities to share their favorite winter staycation ideas near MKE, and this is what they said…
Jennifer B. – Property Manager, Deer Creek
Jennifer’s ideal winter staycation is the perfect balance of exercise, shopping, eating, and drinking! She’s got this thing down! In the morning she recommends a visit to the Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market at the Deer District. Shop the large assortment of interesting vendors to your heart’s content. Follow up your shopping trip with a little fun at The Rock Snowpark in Franklin, where you can ski, snowboard, or snow tube. If you go after dark, you can even “Glow Tube,” which is tubing during a light show!
Now for food and libations…head to Walker’s Point. Stop at the Zocalo Food Truck Park, Milwaukee’s first and only food truck park! And if you plan ahead, you can rent a heated greenhouse for dining! Imagine the fun you’ll have – everyone in your group can choose a different food truck and then gather around a table to compare the cuisine. The last stop on Jennifer’s perfect day is Great Lakes Distillery, also in Walker’s Point and the first distillery to open in Wisconsin since prohibition (I’d say it’s about time)! At Great Lakes, you’ll enjoy high-quality spirits sourced, fermented, and distilled right here in Wisconsin. Cheers to the perfect winter staycation!
The Rock Snowpark: open daily; glow tubing Friday and Saturday nights 9:15-11 pm.
Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market: winter Saturday mornings from 8-11:30 am.
Zocalo Food Truck Park: (hours vary)
Great Lakes Distillery: (hours vary)
Matt S. – Property Manager, Woodridge & Alpine Court
Matt has two great recommendations for a staycation in the Milwaukee area that will leave your cheeks with a healthy glow and your sweet tooth satisfied. Start with a hike along the Ice Age Trail. There are many places to join the trail west of Milwaukee, but two, in particular, are very convenient to I-94. Try parking off Highway 83 in Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield (just north of I-94) and joining the trail, heading either north towards Hartland or west and then south towards Delafield and Dousman. Another great place to join the Ice Age Trail is at Lapham Peak State Park off Highway C just south of I-94. You would need to pay the state park day fee (if you don’t have an annual pass), but there are maps available in the park ranger station and restrooms at each parking lot.
After a refreshing hike, you deserve a visit to The Gingerbread House in Muskego. If you’re up for a scenic drive, go south on Highway 83, then pop on to I-43 east to the Moorland Road exit, and south to College Avenue in Muskego. Whether you want a latte or a made-from-scratch pastry, or brunch, lunch, pizza, or fish fry, there is something for every palate at any time of day. And don’t forget to visit their wine bar – after all, you just hiked – you should replenish the grape food group!
Ice Age Trail: (hiker resources, including the mobile app)
The Gingerbread House: (hours vary)
Chloe M. – Assistant Property Manager, Woodridge & Alpine Court
Staycations don’t require airline tickets, hotel rooms, or even cars! Growing up, Chloe and her family shared an annual staycation tradition right at home. Each year this much-anticipated day started by building a huge pillow and blanket fort. Once the fort was complete, the party began. There was always hot cocoa and candy, among other treats, as well as a movie marathon fueled by popcorn. At the end of the day, the exhausted children would sleep in the fort.
This idea is great for adults too! After building your fort, make a meal of appetizers. Consider setting out a tray of small glasses for a wine or beer tasting. Check out the link below for a ready-made wine tasting kit and virtual tasting experience. After your movie marathon, finish up with a simple, but decedent dessert like brownie hot fudge sundaes.

Ian Bohnak – Property Manager, The Sanctuary & Wimmer Family Partnership
Although Ian and his family love visiting Florida in the winter, sometimes a staycation is in order. For those occasions, Ian recommends three classic Milwaukee-area favorites: The Milwaukee Public Museum, Discovery World, and Springs Water Park at the Ingleside Hotel (formerly Country Springs).
The Milwaukee Public Museum has been around since the late 19th century and has an incredible collection that will please visitors of all interests. Virtually visit every continent, including a Costa Rican rainforest, a European village, and ancient Mediterranean civilizations. Learn about dinosaurs and butterflies. And closer to home, take a stroll down The Streets of Old Milwaukee. The museum is also home to a planetarium and a dome theater, where movies wrap around you for a fully immersive experience.
Discovery World is a children’s science museum with hands-on exhibits focused on technology and freshwater sciences. The incredible aquarium wraps around visitors, so they feel like they’re within an ocean, an Amazon river, an African lake, or one of the Great Lakes. Discovery World is appropriately located along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Check the website before you go, because the museum is open 5 days a week.
Springs indoor water park at The Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee is a great place to relax after a day at the museums, or really any day at all! Have fun on the tube and body slides or relax in the lazy river or indoor/outdoor hot tub.
“When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels.”
