Community Involvement

Our Community Involvement

Our financial support is just the beginning. Wimmer Communities' team members regularly offer hands-on help to non-profit organizations throughout the metropolitan area, volunteering hundreds of hours of their time and talent and immeasurable amounts of beautiful generosity. While our record of corporate responsibility is strong, we recognize that there is always more that can be done. We have been truly blessed and embrace the opportunity and responsibility to be a positive force in the communities in which we live, work, and play.

Arts

The arts bring communities together by creating experiences that enrich life today and inspire ideas for the future. Wimmer Communities supports the arts by funding local arts groups, summer concerts and commissioning contemporary art.

We are proud to announce that Wimmer Communities served as the presenting sponsor for the 10th Annual Beer in the Bushes, held on April 19, 2025, at the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s headquarters. This beloved event featured craft beer tastings, gourmet food trucks, and live music by Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, all in support of SCCF’s mission to protect Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems. Our involvement underscores our commitment to community.

Health

Wimmer Communities believes in promoting the health and well-being of all people who live in the communities we serve. We focus on physical and emotional health by proudly supporting:

  • Mary T. Wimmer Endowment for Breast Cancer Research
  • Waukesha Community Health Center
  • ProHealth Care Cancer Center
  • Wimmer Healing Garden
  • St. Mary’s Contemplative Labyrinth

Education & Recreation

Wimmer Communities believes in inspiring young minds in and out of the classroom. Someday they’ll be doctors and engineers, writers, and artists. Right now they’re our sons and daughters, our nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. More importantly, they are our future.

  • Whitnall Park Archery Center
  • Kulwicki Neighborhood Park

Environment

Preservation of the natural environment within the communities we develop is key to minimizing our environmental footprint. That’s why we have incorporated Green building practices in developing high-performance, site sensitive communities, incorporating water saving, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

Volunteer Initiatives

Wimmer Communities' team members, retirees, family and friends are people who care about our communities as well as those in need throughout the world. We participate in countless hours of volunteer initiatives every year, benefiting our neighbors and the world beyond:

Operation Christmas Child - Since 2001 employees have filled shoe boxes with gifts for children around the world and Wimmer Communities pays the shipping costs. In November of 2025 723 boxes were donated to children in need and were delivered to children in cities in Africa.
Hunger Task Force - For the past nine years Wimmer Communities' employees and residents have donated food items to the Hunger Task Force and our apartment communities serve as drop off points. Over the last ten years we have collected over 27,000 pounds of food for those in need.
Community Projects for Seniors - Wimmer Communities is assisting this worthy organization in providing basic necessities for low-income seniors. Our 2026 paper goods drive yielded 1,286 rolls, as well as paper plates, disinfectant wipes, and napkins to benefit those seniors most in need in our community.
Milwaukee Rescue Mission For many years, our annual toy drive has provided gifts to children and teens in need throughout the Milwaukee area. To date, Wimmmer employees and residents generously contributed toys and cash donations totaling over $50,000. Wow, thank you everyone!
Habitat for Humanity Wimmer Communities supports Habitat for Humanity by sending volunteer team members to work on job sites. We also support Habitat for Humanity ReStores by contributing surplus construction materials and gently used appliances. We have recently increased our support of this worthy cause with collections of household items including small appliances.
Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse - Wimmer Brothers has been a financial sponsor of this event annually since 2010.
