Part of the larger Oak Leaf Trail that spans 125 miles throughout Milwaukee County, the Whitnall Loop is the perfect way to spend a casual car ride through Whitnall Park. The paved trail offers riders a smooth ride through the park, where you can appreciate the changing leaves or stop for a bit of bird watching.

Stroll through Boerner Botanical Gardens

In Whitnall Park near Hales Corners, you can spend the afternoon exploring the beauty of the Boerner Botanical Gardens. Thousands of plants bring the seasons to life with colorful and fragrant displays laid out in 12 formal gardens. You’ll find rose, peony, and daylily gardens, and crabapples. Take in the scenery while enjoying a light lunch in the café or a special weekend brunch in the Garden Room.

Make autumn tee time one of your weekend priorities. For the enthusiastic golfer, Hales Corners, Wisconsin, offers several fantastic options, including the Whitnall Park Golf Course. You can enjoy 9 or 18 holes at this popular course with creative greens to test your skills. Designed by George Hansen, a landscape architect who designed five of the county’s 18-hole courses and went on to become the Parks superintendent, this 1932 course is one of the best-preserved courses in the area.
