Favorite Valentine’s Dinner Spots Near Milwaukee 2022: Wimmer Staff Picks

  |     |   Uncategorized

The English writer, Virginia Woolf, had it right when she said,

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

And on no other day of the year is this TRUER than on Valentine’s Day, so we asked our team of Leasing Consultants for their favorite Valentine dinner spots near Milwaukee and this is what they said…

Molly W. – Leasing Consultant, The Club at Brookfield Hills

ELSA’S ON THE PARK

Since 1980, Elsa’s on the Park has been serving cocktails and burgers in trendy surroundings on Cathedral Park in Milwaukee. The Elsa behind Elsa’s on the Park is Elsa Kopp, the matriarch of Kopp’s frozen custard. But don’t be fooled…Elsa’s on the Park is no hamburger stand. Molly recommends Elsa’s for a special Valentine’s Day dinner. She likes the hip atmosphere and outstanding food. If your Valentine likes the bubbly, there are 7 varieties of champagne and 6 sparkling wines to make your night effervescent, plus they have a variety of specialty drinks from classic cocktails to Molly’s favorite – martinis. And Elsa’s is always listed among the best burgers in Milwaukee, so you might want to check out one of the 10 interesting selections on the menu, or try a dressed-up boneless pork chop, sandwich, or bistro-style dinner. After dinner, try one of their fabulous desserts, and if you’re really full, you can try the “World’s Smallest Turtle Sundae!”

MR. B’S STEAKHOUSE

Mr. B’s Steakhouse is part of the Bartolotta portfolio of exceptional dining establishments in the Milwaukee area. With two locations, in Brookfield and Mequon, your Valentine dinner is close by no matter where you live or work in the area. Jade favors the Mequon location for its atmosphere. She loves the way the wait staff take care of you, making sure you have a great experience. And the food!!! There will be a special menu for Valentine’s Day, along with most of the regular menu favorites. Jade’s favorite is steak with potato puree. According to her it’s a “must-have.” So, take Jade’s advice and bring your special someone for a classic steak and potato dinner at arguably one of the best restaurants in the area. Finish your special evening with a great dessert, such as cheesecake, warm apple crisp, or Mr. B’s season ice cream sundae.

WATER STREET BREWERY

If your Valentine prefers a more laid-back atmosphere, Jordan recommends Water Street Brewery. She prefers their newest location at the Drexel Town Square in Oak Creek, but there are additional locations in Grafton and Lake Country. The original location on Water Street in downtown Milwaukee opened in 1987, but it is temporarily closed.

As far as micro-breweries go, this one is legit! Their award-winning brewmaster has been with them for nearly 20 years and he brews his masterpieces at every location. Check out their 5 “always on tap” house brews and custom seasonal selections (available to enjoy at home in growlers), plus lots of other great choices by the can.

Jordan’s favorite meal starts with either cheese curds or soft pretzel, followed by a bacon blue cheeseburger for her entrée. It’s up to YOU to pair your meal with the perfect cold beer!

RODIZIO GRILL

Hali’s favorite place to go on Valentine’s Day is Rodizio Grill in downtown Milwaukee. This Brazilian Steakhouse was first established in Denver in 1995 by Brazilian native, Ivan Utrera, who wanted to bring traditional churrasco (thin cut steak) to the U.S. And thank goodness he did because Hali absolutely loves it. She says her favorite thing about Rodizio is the “all you can eat” meats. But it’s not JUST about the meats, Rodizio features about 30 unique salads, as well as homemade desserts.

For a set price you can choose from the “Full Rodizio,” which includes unlimited meats, sides, and salads, or the “Unlimited Gourmet Salads,” which is the vegetarian version of the Full Rodizio (no meats). If you can’t hop a plane to Brazil with your Valentine this year, why not pop downtown and enjoy the traditional foods of gauchos in Brazil!

THAT’S AMORÉ

That’s Amoré is a quaint, local family-owned Italian restaurant in Greenfield, just around the corner from the Wimmer Communities corporate office, and it just happens to be one of Heather’s favorite Valentine’s Day spots. The LoPiparo family has been in the restaurant business since 1979. After success in two earlier restaurants, they decided to open That’s Amoré, a casual dining establishment, in 1990.

Heather loves the welcoming atmosphere of That’s Amoré, as well as the food and drinks. She likes to start with a Jolly Rancher martini, followed by the Shrimp Capri appetizer, which consists of five jumbo shrimp sauteed with butter, tomatoes, scallions, garlic, oregano, and lemon and served over angel hair pasta. For her entrée, Heather loves the Seafood Amoré, which is freshly sauteed mushrooms, and garlic tossed with crab, scallops, and shrimp in alfredo cheese sauce over linguine. Follow that up with cannoli made to order, New York-style cheesecake, or tiramisu, and you’ve got a perfect Valentine’s Day!

LAGO SU BELLA

If you and your Valentine are hoping to dine in Lake Country, Lago Su Bella is a great option recommended by Liz. Lago Su Bella translates to “on a beautiful lake,” which is absolutely true – as this lovely restaurant is located on the shore of Lac la Belle in downtown Oconomowoc and has amazing lake views, according to Liz. Michael Bertrand, one of the proprietors, was the former owner of Bertrand’s Point Comfort on Okauchee Lake, so you’ll be in good hands at this Italian ristorante.

Why not start out with one of the house's favorite specialty cocktails? Or if you’re a wine lover, you might enjoy poring over their substantial wine list (ha, ha!) And what about dinner? Liz says they have an eclectic menu featuring great fish, as well as homemade pasta dishes. She personally recommends the scallops, which she says were amazing!

FOX & HOUNDS RESTAURANT AND TAVERN

If your Valentine enjoys country drives and historic locations, The Fox & Hounds might be the perfect location for your celebration. Since 1933, The Fox & Hounds has been in this original location near Holy Hill in Hubertus. The property started out as a modest log cabin, but it was added on to over the years and is now a beautiful, charming restaurant. Lori says, “the atmosphere is wonderful. The scenery is magical in the winter with all the trees and landscape.”

Another great thing about the Fox & Hounds is their “buy one entrée, get one free” menu seven days per week. There is something for everyone, including interesting appetizers (try the “Fox’s Feast” if you want to taste a bunch of things), entrée-size salads, steaks, fish, and seafood. To top it all off, you can choose a dessert from the BOGO tray of nightly specials. The Fox & Hounds is worth the drive from metro Milwaukee!
