WHY CHOOSE WIMMER COMMUNITIES? 10 THINGS THAT SET US APART.

Driving around the Milwaukee area, you're bound to see some great looking apartment communities, operated by some good property management companies. So, why choose Wimmer Communities? Here are 10 things that make Wimmer the best apartment communities in Milwaukee.

  1. We’re Local

Wimmer’s Milwaukee area roots go back to the 1880’s, which means we know Metro Milwaukee because we live here too. Currently, under the fifth and sixth generations of family leadership, Wimmer Communities continues to be locally operated.

  2. We do it all!

Wimmer develops, designs, and builds our communities, which means we locate them in the most convenient Milwaukee-Area locations. Our experienced designers specialize in multifamily homes and they understand renters are looking for more than just an apartment. And the award winning Wimmer construction team’s priority is creating the highest quality apartment homes possible.

  3. Designs for different lifestyles

We focus on communities designed for different lifestyles. Our apartment neighborhoods offer everything from the quaint urban village atmosphere of Shorewood, to the relaxing shores of Pewaukee Lake. Wimmer apartments themselves range from a charming mid-century studio to a newly constructed 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment overlooking a nature preserve. We’ve got it all!

  4. Pet Friendly

Wimmer Communities offers the best pet friendly apartments in Milwaukee. Except for our three communities that only welcome cats, all our apartments are dog-friendly with no pet weight limit (breed restrictions apply). To make your life easier, nearly all our apartment campuses have pet waste stations (2 exceptions). Six of our communities feature Pet Wash & Groom facilities. This is a room set aside for residents to bathe and groom their pets, including a stainless-steel tub with coil spray hose, a grooming table with non-slip surface, an attached grooming arm with 18” loop and a wall-mounted vacuum that can be used as a blow dryer. When you choose Wimmer Communities, you’re renting more than just an apartment!

  5. Parking Matters!

Parking is another aspect of apartment amenities that make everyday life better. At Wimmer Communities, we understand that, so we have worked hard to make our parking the best of all the rest! (Drum roll please…) parking for at least one car is included with your rent at Wimmer. We offer apartments with garage parking, which may mean heated underground garage parking, private or semi-private garage parking (attached or detached). In some cases, we include complimentary off-street surface parking or a carport. Many of our communities offer options for a second parking space for a fee. At the bottom of each community's amenities page you will find completed parking information.

  6. Storage

At Wimmer, we have a leg up on our competition by offering free storage. Many Wimmer Communities include private storage at no added cost beyond your monthly rent. Storage options vary by community and apartment type, so be sure to ask about the specific storage options available at the property you’re considering. Where storage is included, there’s no separate monthly storage fee — just bring your own padlock and enjoy the extra space! Use this comprehensive storage summary to get a clear picture of the storage options at the Wimmer community you are considering.

  7. Luxury Amenities

Honestly, the word “luxury” has been so overused in apartment marketing that it has begun to lose its meaning. So instead of just making that blanket statement, we’d like to backup our claim of luxury with facts. Although a small handful of Wimmer apartment communities are more modest with Studio and one-bedroom apartments and everyday essentials, most of our communities offer a large variety of luxurious one- two- and three-bedroom floor plans, some with den or lofts, and some townhomes. We offer condo-style apartments with attached garages, and resort-style homes with clubhouses that will take your breath away. We have apartments nestled along golf course fairways or pristine ponds, as well as a community with tennis courts and a lovely dock extending into Pewaukee Lake.

If you’re looking for Luxury with a capital “L,” look no further than RiverWalk on the Falls and Tamarack Springs in Menomonee Falls, Signature in Shorewood, and The Linx Club, Artisan, and Poplar Creek Town Center, all in Brookfield. Use the filter feature on our website homepage to find our communities that most closely match your wish list. For example, search by city, search for apartments with garage parking, swimming pool, 24-hour fitness center, or Pet Wash & Groom spaces. Fulfill your dreams by finding a clubhouse with catering kitchen available for rental, maker’s room with bike repair station, in-unit gas fireplace, outdoor gas grill stations, co-workspace, secure package lockers, golf simulator, billiards room, coffee bar for your daily latte fix, wiring for high-speed Internet and fiber access, and monthly free golf passes.

So, when Wimmer Communities uses the word “luxury,” we mean it!

  8. The Most Appealing Locations

Because we develop our own apartment communities, we choose the most convenient Milwaukee-area locations. We specialize in apartments in Milwaukee suburbs including Brookfield, Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Menomonee Falls, New Berlin, Oak Creek, Pewaukee, Shorewood, and West Allis.

  9. On-site Maintenance

We take great pride in our on-site maintenance teams, operating out of every one of our leasing offices. The Wimmer maintenance team is available to our residents 24 hours a day. One of the reasons our team is outstanding is due to long-term leadership – our top 2 maintenance leaders have a combined 29 years at Wimmer Communities! That, and the Superman and Wonder Woman capes they wear.

  10. On-site Management

Wimmer Communities is local; individual property teams are right around the corner and available to you not only during the application stage and move in, but well beyond. The same team you meet on your initial tour is the same team ready to help with any future needs, including renewals! Speaking of renewals, over 10% of Wimmer residents have been living in their Wimmer apartment home for over 10 years! According to Tenant Planet, in the United States, apartment renters stay in the same property for an average of 2.5 to 3 years, so Wimmer resident longevity really is remarkable!

Thinking about trading Chicago for Milwaukee? You’re not alone. According to U-Haul’s recently published Midyear Migration Trends report, which uses one-way rental data to determine where people are coming from and going to in cities across the USA, Chicagoan Gen-Xers (born 1965–1980) and Millennials (born 1981–1996) are moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin more than any other city. Plus, Chicagoan Baby Boomers (born 1946–1964) are moving to Wisconsin more than any other state.

Now that you’ve chosen Milwaukee, will you rent or buy in your new hometown? According to MoveAdvisor, “Renting gives you flexibility, time, and peace of mind while you get to know your new environment.” Renting takes some of the pressure of relocating off your shoulders because you know you’ll have time to explore neighborhoods, learn about commute times, schools, pet amenities, and more. Let us help you find your new home in one of our apartment communities.

Wimmer Communities has been active in the Milwaukee area since 1882. We know MKE! Our leasing professionals are well informed and ready to discuss all the criteria important to you when choosing where you will land. For example, if you want to live on or near a golf course, if a swimming pool is a must, if pet amenities are your priority, or if school districts are at the top of your list, we can provide the resources to help you find the Wimmer community that best suits your needs.

Maybe you have chosen a suburb but want to find the best apartment within Shorewood, Greenfield, Brookfield, or Hales Corners. Maybe living close to a particular Froedtert Hospital takes precedence, or perhaps new construction with top-of-the-line amenities is most important. Whatever your priorities, Wimmer has you covered!

What type of fitness equipment do Wimmer Communities have?

Many Wimmer Communities apartment fitness centers feature Matrix fitness equipment with touchscreen displays. Depending on the community, fitness centers may include treadmills, ellipticals, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, benches, and dumbbells. Select communities also offer rowing machines and functional trainers.

Fitness equipment and amenities vary by apartment community. For a complete list of fitness equipment available at each Wimmer Community, view our fitness equipment guide.

Which Wimmer Communities are located near golf courses in Southeast Wisconsin?

All of our apartment communities are near popular public golf courses, and two are located overlooking the scenic Brookfield Hills Golf Course: The Club at Brookfield Hills and The Linx Club at Brookfield Hills.

In fact, select Wimmer Communities offer residents free golf each month of the season. That means a free round of 9 holes at Brookfield Hills Golf Course or a free medium bucket of practice balls at Storms Golf Range, based on the number of bedrooms in your apartment. For example, a two-bedroom apartment receives two rounds of golf or two medium buckets of practice balls each month of the season. One-bedroom apartments receive one, and three-bedroom apartments receive three.

What school districts are Wimmer Communities in?

If you’re on the hunt for an apartment based on a particular school district, Wimmer Communities has done the legwork for you. Check out our summary of the school districts, including elementary, middle, and high schools, that correspond to each of our apartment communities.

Which Wimmer Communities have swimming pools?

There really is no better place to be in the whole wide world than Metro Milwaukee in the summertime! We Milwaukeeans know how to squeeze every ounce of fun out of those long, lazy days between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Of course, we have Summerfest, church and ethnic festivals, outdoor concerts including Wimmer’s own Concerts in the Gardens series at Whitnall Park, BBQs, boating, fishing on our gorgeous lakes, and the list goes on.

But one of the very best ways to spend a few minutes or a few hours on a warm summer day is by a crystal-clear swimming pool. Wimmer Communities has thirteen apartment communities offering residents the chance to swim and lounge by a pool just steps from their front door.

If New Berlin is the place you’d like to call home, stop by Deer Creek Apartments or The Sanctuary to check out their lovely pools. In Brookfield, you’ll find a resort-style pool at Poplar Creek Town Center and an Olympic-size pool at The Club at Brookfield Hills. The Linx Club and Georgetown Square also have beautiful pools, while The Artisan offers access to the Georgetown Square pool, about one block away.

In Menomonee Falls, residents of RiverWalk on the Falls have a gorgeous pool overlooking the falls themselves, while Tamarack Springs’ pool overlooks a lovely pond. If you’re apartment-hunting in Oak Creek, check out the beautiful pools at Centennial Park and Southfield. Both are well loved by our residents!

Our Greenfield and Hales Corners apartment communities with swimming pools include Rivershire and Falcon Glen. The Orchard residents are invited to use the pool at Falcon Glen, which is a short five-minute drive away. The swimming pool at Whitnall Gardens was recently updated for its residents, and neighboring Whitnall Glen residents are invited to use it as well.

The last day of pool season at most Wimmer Communities pools is known as Doggy Swim Day! This means resident dogs are invited to swim in the pool just before it is closed for the season. Much fanfare surrounds this fun event, and no one enjoys it more than Wimmer’s furriest residents.

Although a swimming pool may not be your deciding factor while apartment shopping, we hope it positively influences your decision in Wimmer Communities’ favor. After all, everyone knows life is better poolside!

Which Wimmer Communities have pet wash and grooming facilities?

Will you be bringing Fido to live with you in your Wimmer Communities apartment? Six of our communities feature pet wash and grooming facilities.

These dedicated spaces allow residents to bathe and groom their dogs and include a stainless-steel tub with coil spray hose, a grooming table with a non-slip surface, an attached grooming arm with an 18-inch loop, and a wall-mounted vacuum.

Twenty-six out of 29 communities have no dog weight limitations, and nearly all have pet waste stations for your convenience.

Which Wimmer Communities have in-unit washers and dryers?

Whether a washer and dryer within your home is a deal-breaker or, so far, just a dream, let’s talk about which Wimmer Community is right for you.

If you’re looking for an apartment in Brookfield, you’ll have your own in-unit washer and dryer at The Linx Club, Poplar Creek Town Center, Georgetown Square, The Artisan, and the Lofts and Pinnacle at The Club at Brookfield Hills. The Terraces at The Club at Brookfield Hills have common laundry options in each building.

In New Berlin, both Deer Creek Run and The Sanctuary have in-unit washers and dryers. At The Sanctuary, they are full-size.

For those on the hunt for a townhome with laundry access, check out the beautiful Georgetown Square townhomes with full-size in-home washers and dryers. Whitnall Glen also has townhomes with in-unit washers and dryers. In fact, all apartments at Whitnall Glen have washers and dryers.

Townhomes at Woodridge and Parkside have washer and dryer hookups only. Select one- and two-bedroom, non-townhome apartments at Parkside have washers and dryers, and shared on-site laundry facilities are also available.

You’re in luck if you want to do your laundry in Greenfield! All of Wimmer’s Greenfield apartment communities have in-unit washers and dryers, including Falcon Glen, Westfield, and Rivershire. The Orchard’s washers and dryers are full-size, while Foxwood Crossing features full-size, stacked machines.

On the south side of town, Centennial Park in Oak Creek has full-size washers and dryers in every apartment. Southfield, also in Oak Creek, features washers and dryers in select units, specifically Phases 2 and 3. There is a convenient on-site laundry room for Phase 1 apartments.

If you’re focused on Lake Country, Oakton Beach is a great community located in Pewaukee with private tennis courts and a gorgeous lakeside dock for resident use. Most units have a washer and dryer. Also on the west side of town, Waukesha’s Foxhaven community features full-size washers and dryers in every apartment.

And if the bluffs of Lake Michigan are calling out to you, you’re sure to enjoy the pleasure of doing laundry in any one of the beautiful Signature apartments in Shorewood!

What is the best apartment in Shorewood?

According to the Village of Shorewood website, “Shorewood is a unique and pedestrian-friendly urban village styled in the European tradition.” It is the first suburb north of Milwaukee and is located along the shores of Lake Michigan.

In 2024, Wimmer Communities built a showstopper apartment community called The Signature. It is a study in class. Imagine the most beautiful Michigan Avenue hotel and you’ll have an idea of the lifestyle you’ll enjoy in the heart of this quaint village. Walk to shops, restaurants, and even the grocery store, and leave your car parked at home.

What are the best apartments in Greenfield?

Greenfield, Wisconsin, is a beautiful suburb made even more beautiful by its 16 city and county parks. Convenience is key to this area, with a huge assortment of shopping, dining, and entertainment options close at hand. Wimmer Communities has a wide variety of apartments to choose from within this dynamic area, all with private entrances, in-unit laundry, patios or balconies, and parking in a private garage included with rent.

If you’re on the hunt for the comfort of a three-bedroom apartment, Wimmer Communities offers two options in Greenfield: Falcon Glen and The Orchard. Both choices are spacious, with some floor plans measuring more than 2,200 square feet. Plus, you can enjoy the luxury of Falcon Glen’s heated outdoor pool, fitness room, and clubroom, which is available for private parties.

If you love Greenfield but still have a budget to stick to, check out Westfield and Foxwood Crossing. Each of these communities offers economical two-bedroom options, still with in-unit laundry and private garage parking.

Then again, if you can’t decide which is more important to you—budget or amenities—why not check out Rivershire? Rivershire offers two-bedroom apartments with one or two bathrooms and approximately 1,000 square feet of living space. You’ll be steps away from the updated clubhouse, fitness room, community room available for private parties, and heated outdoor pool.

You’ll also have easy access to the fifteen-mile-long Root River Parkway, where you can enjoy strolling, jogging, riding, or even cross-country skiing.

All these Greenfield apartment options welcome up to two pets with no weight restrictions, although some restrictions apply. View Greenfield apartments and pet details.

What are the best apartments in Hales Corners?

If you’re torn between the comfort of village life and the excitement of city life, Hales Corners is a great option to consider. Within 15 or 20 minutes, you can drive from Hales Corners to Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward in one direction or Brookfield in another. Within this vibrant village itself, you’ll find the shopping, restaurants, and businesses that make life convenient.

For nearly 100 years, Hales Corners residents have had the pleasure of enjoying one of our state’s most beautiful botanical gardens right in our proverbial backyard. The Boerner Botanical Gardens within Whitnall Park is the jewel of Hales Corners’ crown, and Wimmer Communities offers four apartment communities close by.

If you’re looking for a townhome in Hales Corners, check out Whitnall Gardens or Parkside Apartments. Both have three-bedroom options. Parkside townhomes even have full basements, giving you a significant amount of additional space, while Whitnall Gardens has a beautiful swimming pool.

Whitnall Glen is a great choice for those looking to maximize the perk of living next to Whitnall Park. A walking path gives residents direct access. Choose a one- or two-bedroom apartment with a private entrance, one-car garage with opener, and in-unit washer and dryer. Options include dens and cathedral ceilings. You’ll even have access to our sister property’s swimming pool at Whitnall Gardens.

One- and two-bedroom homes are also available at Parkside and Whitnall Gardens Apartments. In fact, Parkside garden residences include heat and hot water utilities. Some one- and two-bedroom Parkside apartments have loft or den options as well. Select Whitnall Gardens apartments also include heat and hot water utilities, helping cross another monthly bill off your list.

Apartment hunters who are 55+ may like the convenience of Forest Ridge Senior Community. Forest Ridge is a premier senior community in Hales Corners, offering one- and two-bedroom apartments, some with dens, along with senior living and assisted living options.

What are the best apartments in Brookfield?

“Brookfield” is an area west of Milwaukee and consists of both the City of Brookfield and the Town of Brookfield.

According to the City of Brookfield website, “Brookfield covers almost 27 square miles, numbers 40,000 residents, and is a major business, retail, and industrial hub in southeastern Wisconsin. Brookfield remains committed to orderly development, responsible government, and maintaining a high quality of life.”

Adjacent to the City of Brookfield is the Town of Brookfield. According to its website, “The Town of Brookfield is a community of 6,480 people and is located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin approximately 15 miles west of the City of Milwaukee.”

Wimmer is proud to offer five outstanding apartment communities in Brookfield. Two of these communities are located within the Brookfield Hills Golf Course property. Two are just north of Bluemound Road, a shopping and entertainment corridor well known throughout the entire metro area. One new community, composed of six distinct buildings, is complete except for the final building, which will welcome its first residents in 2027.
