Thinking about trading Chicago for Milwaukee? You’re not alone. According to U-Haul’s recently published Midyear Migration Trends report, which uses one-way rental data to determine where people are coming from and going to in cities across the USA, Chicagoan Gen-Xers (born 1965–1980) and Millennials (born 1981–1996) are moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin more than any other city. Plus, Chicagoan Baby Boomers (born 1946–1964) are moving to Wisconsin more than any other state.
Now that you’ve chosen Milwaukee, will you rent or buy in your new hometown? According to MoveAdvisor, “Renting gives you flexibility, time, and peace of mind while you get to know your new environment.” Renting takes some of the pressure of relocating off your shoulders because you know you’ll have time to explore neighborhoods, learn about commute times, schools, pet amenities, and more. Let us help you find your new home in one of our apartment communities.
Wimmer Communities has been active in the Milwaukee area since 1882. We know MKE! Our leasing professionals are well informed and ready to discuss all the criteria important to you when choosing where you will land. For example, if you want to live on or near a golf course, if a swimming pool is a must, if pet amenities are your priority, or if school districts are at the top of your list, we can provide the resources to help you find the Wimmer community that best suits your needs.
Maybe you have chosen a suburb but want to find the best apartment within Shorewood, Greenfield, Brookfield, or Hales Corners. Maybe living close to a particular Froedtert Hospital takes precedence, or perhaps new construction with top-of-the-line amenities is most important. Whatever your priorities, Wimmer has you covered!

Which Wimmer Communities have swimming pools?
There really is no better place to be in the whole wide world than Metro Milwaukee in the summertime! We Milwaukeeans know how to squeeze every ounce of fun out of those long, lazy days between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Of course, we have Summerfest, church and ethnic festivals, outdoor concerts including Wimmer’s own Concerts in the Gardens series at Whitnall Park, BBQs, boating, fishing on our gorgeous lakes, and the list goes on.
But one of the very best ways to spend a few minutes or a few hours on a warm summer day is by a crystal-clear swimming pool. Wimmer Communities has thirteen apartment communities offering residents the chance to swim and lounge by a pool just steps from their front door.
If New Berlin is the place you’d like to call home, stop by Deer Creek Apartments or The Sanctuary to check out their lovely pools. In Brookfield, you’ll find a resort-style pool at Poplar Creek Town Center and an Olympic-size pool at The Club at Brookfield Hills. The Linx Club and Georgetown Square also have beautiful pools, while The Artisan offers access to the Georgetown Square pool, about one block away.
In Menomonee Falls, residents of RiverWalk on the Falls have a gorgeous pool overlooking the falls themselves, while Tamarack Springs’ pool overlooks a lovely pond. If you’re apartment-hunting in Oak Creek, check out the beautiful pools at Centennial Park and Southfield. Both are well loved by our residents!
Our Greenfield and Hales Corners apartment communities with swimming pools include Rivershire and Falcon Glen. The Orchard residents are invited to use the pool at Falcon Glen, which is a short five-minute drive away. The swimming pool at Whitnall Gardens was recently updated for its residents, and neighboring Whitnall Glen residents are invited to use it as well.
The last day of pool season at most Wimmer Communities pools is known as Doggy Swim Day! This means resident dogs are invited to swim in the pool just before it is closed for the season. Much fanfare surrounds this fun event, and no one enjoys it more than Wimmer’s furriest residents.
Although a swimming pool may not be your deciding factor while apartment shopping, we hope it positively influences your decision in Wimmer Communities’ favor. After all, everyone knows life is better poolside!
