Overview

This Privacy Policy explains Wimmer Communities (WC) information‐gathering and online policy practices for our website: www.wimmercommunities.com. WC takes privacy rights seriously and has posted this Online Privacy Policy to inform users of which information is collected and how it’s being used. WC’s goal is to collect and use only that information which is necessary to better understand our residents and provide better service. Acceptance of the terms of this Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is subject to the WC Terms and Conditions for use of the WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy or the Terms and Conditions for use of WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM, please do not provide us with any information and do not use the site. Your continued use of the site in light of changes to this Privacy Policy will signify your acceptance of the changes for information gathered after the date of the change.

 

Does this Privacy Policy Apply to You?

This privacy policy covers WC’s information collection (through Google analytics and other analytics platforms) and use practices for anyone who uses the WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM website. WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM also contains links to other websites and third parties. Once you link to another website from the WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM, you are subject to the terms and conditions of that website, including, but not limited to, its Internet privacy policy. WC automatically collects technical information about each visitor, including your IP address, the type of device, the type of browser you use to surf the Internet, your screen resolution, the URL you visited prior to arriving at WIMMERCOMMUNITIES.COM, and your computer’s operating system. The Personal Information We Collect

We may also collect your banking and/or credit card information when necessary to process a payment for a transaction you have authorized through our Platforms.

 

In addition, we may collect the following personal information from you or your co-residents in connection with your use of the Platforms and the transactions you authorize through the Platforms:

  • Date of Birth;
  • Identification information such as your Driver's License number or Passport Number;
  • Vehicle year, make, model, license plate;
  • Income amounts;
  • Credit card and/or bank account info; and

To the extent authorized by you or otherwise permitted in accordance with applicable law, criminal and credit background information (such as evictions, criminal convictions, credit worthiness, etc.).

In the event you have consented to us performing a background check on behalf of your Property Management, we may also ask for your Social Security Number (SSN) on behalf of your Property Management in order to assist with facilitating an accurate background screening. We will not use or disclose your SSN except as necessary for purpose of running your background check.

 

How We Use Your Personal Information

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

providing you with access to and use of the Platforms; completing and processing any transactions you have authorized through the Platforms; communicating with you with respect to your use of the Platforms; and as otherwise required by applicable law.

 

How We Disclose Your Personal Information

We will not disclose any personal information we collect from you to any third parties except as follows:

Service Providers. We may disclose your personal information to our service providers which perform certain services necessary to run our business (for example, data hosting).

Legal Request. We may disclose your personal information to respond to law enforcement requests or where required by applicable laws, court orders, or government regulations.

 

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You have made a complaint or enquiry to us.
  • You have made an information request to us.
  • You are a resident of one of our communities
  • You are a prospective resident of one or more of our communities
  • You have applied for a job with us.

 

We also receive personal information indirectly, in the following scenarios:

  • Your personal information is contained in reports of breaches of data protection law (‘breach reports’) given to us by organizations.
  • A complainant refers to you in their complaint correspondence.
  • Whistleblowers include information about you in their reporting to us.
  • We have seized personal information as part of an investigation.
  • From other regulators or law enforcement bodies.
  • An employee of ours gives your contact details as an emergency contact or a referee.

 

WC will retain user data for a period up to 26 months from the date captured. However, if user data is submitted through a formal form data retention can exceed 26 months. WC reserves the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time to comply with any applicable state or federal regulations, to utilize new technologies, or to improve your WC experience, so please check back periodically to review our Privacy Policy. If WC changes any portion of this Privacy Policy, the change will be posted in this document so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and to whom we will disclose it. WC will not change the use and dissemination practices related to information obtained under a prior version of this Privacy Policy without your prior consent.
