The Village of Shorewood is nestled on the edge of Lake Michigan, with beautiful shoreline views for miles and a vibrant urban atmosphere. There is so much to do within this area of Wisconsin, with the village being near Wisconsin’s most populated city, Milwaukee, and the quaint yet bustling Whitefish Bay. The Village of Shorewood says it best, “When you live here, you’re close to everything.” This includes fantastic breakfast and café establishments that are sure to satiate your Sunday brunch needs. Here are four spots to grab breakfast and a coffee in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

 

Fiddleheads Coffee

Fiddleheads opened in 1996 in Thiensville, Wisconsin, with their Shorewood location opening 25 years later. The café is 1,910 square feet of “coffee,” “eats,” and “good times,” as their glowing sign advertises in their main dining area. Their three-season patio with a fire pit are  is put to good use during the warmer months.

Their menu consists of an assortment of coffees, and non-coffee refreshments such as teas, Italian sodas, and smoothies. Sandwiches are also a popular food item, especially breakfast sandwiches. These are a great pick-me-up during the day, or for a bite to eat when catching up with a friend.

Colectivo Coffee

With 20 locations throughout Wisconsin and Illinois, Colectivo has become a Midwest favorite. Their Shorewood location sits between the Milwaukee River and Atwater Park, perfect to visit before or after a walk on the beach. This location also features the “crooked room,” a “fun  illusion” made from wood in the café.

This popular café has a variety of food and drinks to satisfy any appetite. Ranging from café eats, to coffee and specialized drinks, to bakery items, Colectivo has it all. Their coffee is sourced from origin, putting great care into their roasting process. Their bakery and food items are also made from scratch daily at their Troubadour Bakery.

North Shore Boulangerie

Self-accredited as “Milwaukee’s finer bakery and cafés,” North Shore Boulangerie is a great stop for French breakfast dishes. The restaurant, founded in 2014, has gained so much traction that its bakery items are sold at fine dining restaurants, hotels, and markets such as Sendik’s.

The eatery serves French breakfast classics such as croissants, beignets, and omelets. Their drink menu consists of a wide variety of hot coffee drinks. This coffee is sourced from Paris’s own Cafés Richard. At North Shore Boulangerie, you’re sure to get a taste of France.

The City Market Café and Bakehouse

The City Market Café and Bakehouse has been a fixture at the corner of N. Maryland Avenue and Capitol Drive for 26 years, and it’s not going anywhere. Taking its inspiration from European cafés and bakeries, the City Market Café works day in and day out to bake their top-tier delicacies. They claim that their “dedication to premium ingredients and food cooked with care is what has set the City Market Café apart.”

Their breakfast menu consists of traditional breakfast fare such as pancakes and avocado toast, as well as different egg dishes. Additional sides include items such as seasonal fresh fruit and bacon or sausage. Their drink selection ranges from specialty coffee drinks, fruit juices and smoothies. An assortment of their renowned bakery items are also available in their store.
