Greendale is known for its rich heritage and beautiful green spaces. The community is one of three government-sponsored "greenbelt" communities built as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Resettlement Administration, which means it seeks to combine the best of city and country life. Residents enjoy access to and living amid green spaces such as the Oak Leaf Trail, Trimborm Farm, Whitnall Park Botanical Gardens, and Whitnall Park Golf Course.

Shopping

The village offers a host of business, shopping, and dining options, including the several dozen well-known shops of historic downtown Greendale. Most residents live just a short drive from Southridge Mall, Kohl’s, Target, and Bed, Bath, & Beyond as well. The area also boasts the Explorium Brewpub, a Bartolotta restaurant, The Steakout, and other beloved local eateries.
