Wimmer Cares
Our Community Involvement

At Wimmer Communities, we don’t define the success of our business simply by the bottom line.

WE ALSO MEASURE OUR ACHIEVEMENTS BASED ON OUR ROLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS WE SERVE. WIMMER COMMUNITIES IS COMMITTED TO OUR MISSION AND THE VALUES IT EMBRACES. BY FOCUSING ON EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, ARTS, AND RECREATION, WE HELP MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES STRONG.

Our financial support is just the beginning. Wimmer Communities team members throughout the metropolitan area regularly offer hands-on help to non-profit organizations, volunteering hundreds of hours of their time and talent and immeasurable amounts of beautiful generosity.

While our record of corporate responsibility is strong, we recognize that there is always more that can be done. We have been truly blessed and embrace the opportunity and responsibility to be a positive force in the communities in which we live, work, and play.

Arts

The arts bring communities together by creating experiences that enrich life today and inspire ideas for the future. Wimmer Communities supports the arts by funding local arts groups, summer concerts and commissioning contemporary art.

Education and Recreation

Wimmer Communities believes in inspiring young minds in and out of the classroom. Someday they’ll be doctors and engineers, writers and artists. Right now they’re our sons and daughters, our nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.  More importantly they are our future.

  • Whitnall Park Archery Center
  • Kulwicki Neighborhood Park

Environment

Preservation of the natural environment within the communities we develop is key to minimizing our environmental footprint. That’s why we have incorporated Green building practices in developing high-performance, site sensitive communities, incorporating water saving, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

Team Members

Wimmer Communities team members, retirees, family and friends are people who care about our communities as well as those in need throughout the world. We participate in countless hours of volunteer initiatives every year, benefiting our neighbors and the world beyond:

  • Go Red For Women - Since 2017, Wimmer Communities has been a sponsor of the Metro Milwaukee Go Red For Women Luncheon. We have committed to our sponsorship annually through 2022 as well!
  • Operation Christmas Child - Since 2001 employees have filled shoe boxes with gifts for children around the world and Wimmer Communities pays the shipping costs.  In November of 2022 a record 622 boxes were donated to children in need and were delivered to children in Namibia, Zambia, and Lesotho in Africa, as well as Belize in Central America.
  • Hunger Task Force - For the past seven years Wimmer Communities' employees and residents have donated food items to the Hunger Task Force and our apartment communities serve as drop off points. In 2022 we collected 6,621 pounds of food and $687.50 to help local families. Over the last 7 years we have collected over 27,000 pounds of food for those in need.
  • Community Projects for Seniors - Wimmer Communities is assisting this worthy organization in providing basic necessities for low-income seniors.  Our 2023 paper goods drive yielded 4,707 rolls!  We have also collected hundreds of goods including shower curtains, paper products, and towels to benefit those most in need in our community.
  • Milwaukee Rescue Mission - Our annual toy drive provides gifts to children and teens in need throughout the Milwaukee area.  In 2022, Wimmer employees and residents generously contributed toys and cash donations totaling over $25,000.  In fact, Wimmer Communities was the largest contributor of all in 2022.  Wow, thank you everyone!
  • Habitat for Humanity - Wimmer Communities support Habitat for Humanity by sending volunteer team members to work on job sites.  We also support Habitat for Humanity ReStores by contributing surplus construction materials and gently used appliances.  We have recently increased our support of this worthy cause with collections of household items including small appliances.
  • The Ronald McDonald House - Donations of soda can tabs are collected year round for this worthy charity.
  • Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse - Wimmer Brothers has been a financial sponsor of this event annually since 2010.
  • Housing First - Wimmer Communities residents donated over 500 pair of Men’s, Women’s and Children’s shoes. Housing first serves our most vulnerable people in the poorest areas of Milwaukee.
