From the 1930s, the fashionable resort of Oakton Manor attracted thousands of visitors with the money and leisure to pursue the simple life on a grand scale. They came to rusticate, dance, sail, picnic and flirt - and they did it all with style. Stars such as Red Skelton, Jessel and Jack F. Leonard enjoyed the swimming, fishing, tobogganing and solitude of Lake Pewaukee. Just a memory now, the Great Fire of 1968 dealt the fatal blow that ended the dazzling era of the glamorous 500 guest Oakton Manor.

But the Great Fire could not destroy the apple orchard planted by honeymooners as an Oakton Manor tradition, or the park-like resort grounds, nor the shoreline beach on Lake Pewaukee. And today, a new era of living that "simple life on a grand scale" is available to you at Oakton Beach and Tennis Club.
